Abstract

Supplier selection is the most critical issue for automobile firms in improving their business performance in supply chain management. Supplier selection decisions involve various objectives or criteria with conflicting parameters. Thus, supplier selection is a multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) problem that includes qualitative and quantitative factors. This study proposes an integrated fuzzy TOPSIS and Multi-Choice Goal programming (MCGP) approach to solve the supplier selection problem in an automobile company. Firstly, linguistic values are expressed in a fuzzy triangular number to assess the weights and rating of supplier selection criteria by using the fuzzy TOPSIS method. Finally, the best supplier selection and the optimal order quantities assigned to each supplier are obtained by integrating the closeness coefficients to the MCGP model. The advantage of the integrated MCGP approach is that it allows decision-makers to set multi-choice aspiration levels for supplier selection. An example illustrates the integrated fuzzy TOPSIS and MCGP approach and discusses the model's advantages.
